Bursary Application Documents Checklist

Bursary document checklist for South African students: ID, academic records, proof of admission, household income, residence, motivation, CV and references.

Missing documents are a common reason applications remain incomplete. Build a document folder before bursary season and create a programme-specific checklist.

Identity and academics

  • Certified ID or permitted identity document.
  • Latest Matric results or Matric certificate.
  • Full tertiary academic record if already studying.
  • Proof of application, acceptance or registration.

Financial documents

  • Parent or guardian proof of income.
  • Proof of unemployment where applicable.
  • Household affidavits where requested.
  • Proof of residence for geographic awards.

Supporting documents

Depending on the programme you may also need a motivational letter, CV, reference, disability documentation, portfolio or professional-registration information.
