There is no single eligibility rule for every bursary. Most programmes combine academic, financial and provider-specific requirements.

Common requirements

  • South African citizenship or qualifying residency.
  • Matric completion or current enrolment.
  • Admission or application to a recognised institution.
  • Minimum academic performance.
  • Household-income or financial-need evidence.
  • Study in a supported field.

Special criteria

Some awards are limited by province, municipality, community, disability status, employer relationship, school, profession or scarce-skill field.
