Why the Registered Mobile Number Matters
The SRD process uses a mobile number for communication and status-related verification. A status lookup normally requires the number linked to the application.
If You No Longer Have the SIM
Do not keep guessing old or unrelated phone numbers. Use the recognised SASSA process to update the registered mobile number before expecting the status checker to match your record.
SIM Swap and Fraud Safety
Protect SMS codes and OTPs. If your number was lost or SIM-swapped, secure the mobile account with your network provider and review any banking or grant details that may have been exposed.
Status Checker Error After a Number Change
A recently changed number may not immediately match older application records. Allow time for updates to reflect and make sure you are entering the number in the requested South African format.
Phone Number Change Readiness Check
This site does not change the official record. Use the checklist to prepare without sharing your number or OTP with us.
